Product Description
Royal Purple HPS Series motor oil is specifically formulated to maximize performance and meet the demands of high performance and modified engines. HPS is recommended for vehicles no longer under manufacturer warranty and for those seeking a higher level of performance and protection. This unique blend enables HPS to outperform leading synthetics and conventional lubricants for both gasoline and diesel engines. Royal Purple’s HPS is fortified with a high level of zinc/phosphorus anti-wear additive and Royal Purple’s proprietary Synerlec additive technology. Royal Purple HPS Series of motor oil responds to increased pressure with increased viscosity. It’s advanced additive technologies, such as Synerlec*, improves the condition of metal-to-metal contact under severe conditions for greater protection. Royal Purple's Synerlec technology actually improves bearing metal condition over time (last picture) Performance Advantages Maximum wear protection--xceptionally high film strength for dramatic reductions in engine wear and reduced engine heat to extend the life of your engine. Improved performance--Improved sealing between the piston ring and cylinder wall maximizes horsepower and torque and optimizes fuel economy. Increased fuel efficiency--Exceptional oxidation stability extends oil life and allows for more miles driven between oil changes saving you time, money and reducing the impact on the environment Cleans--Advanced synthetic solvency reduces engine deposits and keeps engines clean. Advanced Protection--Protects valve trains using roller or flat tappet lifters that require added protection due to high lift/ high ramp rate camshafts. Superior Corrosion Protection--Provides superior corrosion protection. Available in Most Conventional Viscosities Royal Purple HPS motor oils come in a variety of viscosities that meet or exceed API Service requirements for four-cycle gasoline and diesel engines: 5W-20 5W-30 10W-30 10W-40 20W-50 Synerlec Additive Technology Synerlec, Royal Purple’s proprietary, additive lubricant technology, is the cornerstone of RP’s entire product line. It creates an ionic bond that adheres to metal parts to provide continuous protection even at start-up and strengthens the oil to provide unparalleled performance and protection. Royal Purple’s high film strength prevents contact between metal parts reducing friction and heat thereby transferring more power to the drive wheels while maximizing the lubricant service life. As well, Synerlec amplifies the already-exceptional oxidation resistance of the synthetic base oils. Royal Purple remains on the metal surface long after ordinary lubricants would have been squeezed out by pressure and heat. It actually improves mating surfaces by responding to increased pressure with increased viscosity until the metal peaks (asperities) undergo deformation and flow into the low spots. Over time, the metal surface becomes extremely smooth and can even develop a mirror-like surface. Will HPS Harm My Catalytic Converters? No. Testing has shown no short or long term adverse affects on catalysts in mechanically sound vehicles. Royal Purple and New Vehicles Royal Purple currently offers many viscosity grades of API-licensed motor oils. To allow for proper break-in of the engine, Royal Purple recommends waiting until the manufacturer’s first scheduled oil change or a minimum of 2,000 miles in new gasoline engines. Allow 8,000 to 10,000 miles before using Royal Purple in diesel engines. Can Royal Purple Motor Oil Be Used In Older Engines? Yes. Mileage and/or age is not a factor when used in a mechanically sound engine. In high-mileage applications, it's recommended running a minimum of two short (3,000 mile/5,000Km) intervals before extending the oil drain intervals. This will enable Royal Purple’s high solvency to remove existing deposits gradually; such deposits can restrict oil flow, if excessive, as well as reduce the oil service life significantly. Will Switching to Synthetic Oil Cause My Engine To Leak? Properly formulated synthetic oils will generally not cause an engine oil leak. Synthetic oils possess a higher degree of natural solvency, which can clean and remove deposits left by previous oils. The removal of extensive oil deposits can expose marginal or damaged oil seals, which may then leak. If an engine currently has excessive oil consumption (i.e. greater than 1 quart/1,000 miles) the recommended course of action is to solve the oil consumption problem before switching to a synthetic.
